EEM253 Labsheet

This document provides the objectives and activities for an introduction to PLC programming laboratory. The objectives are to learn how to find information in manuals, operate an Omron PLC, and program the PLC using CX programmer. The activities guide students to identify their PLC model, write simple ladder logic programs, transfer programs between the PLC and CX programmer software, and observe output results for different input signals.

Laboratory :Introduction to PLC Programming

Objectives:
To learn to find relevant information from manual
To learn basic operation of Omron Programmable Logic Controller
To learn to program the PLC using CX programmer

Activity 1
1. Find out type of Omron PLC available in the lab.
(a) CPU model: ___________
(b) How many I/O modules, Input:_____________;Output:____________

(c) How many discrete IO ports and their addresses?

Activity 2
1. Learn to use CX programmer. Write a simple ladder diagram and transfer to
the PLC and viceversa. Learn how to transfer memory from the PLC to PC.

Note: Make sure you choose the correct model of PLC when you start programming.
Activity 3
1. Program using CX programmer and input the simple ladder. Simulate the result
with input switches. You are encouraged to try out different ladder diagrams.
