Things you dont can do in South Korea

Talking Loudly On Public Transportation

Being loud on subways or buses is generally rude and Korean locals will actually call you
out on it. If you want to avoid a potentially embarrassing confrontation, be mindful of your
surroundings

Starting Or Finishing Your Meal Before an Elder

Even if you're extremely hungry, resist the urge to dig into your meal before the elders at
the table do. The same goes for excusing yourself from table before your elders finish up
their meals

Giving Or Receiving With One Hand

Whether you're giving a gift, receiving a gift from someone else, or shaking an individual's
hand, it's customary to do so with both of your hands to show the utmost respect.

Refusing a Drink with an Elder

Even if you're not big on drinking alcohol, if an elder offers you a shot of soju, then take it,
even if you have to replace the soju with water! The idea is not to refuse the gesture

Exposing Shoulders or Backs

Ladies beware! Exposed shoulders or backs are still considered fairly indecent in South
Korea. On the flip-side, show as much leg as you want, as the shortest of shorts and skirts
are a fashion norm

Sticking Your Chopsticks in Your Rice

Never do this when you're eating a meal as upright chopsticks resemble the incense burnt
at funerals or ancestor worships.
