The document announces a lecture on earthquake resistant concrete buildings that will discuss how collective efforts from architects, structural engineers, contractors, site supervisors, and local authorities are required to design and construct earthquake resistant buildings. While structural engineers are responsible for structural design calculations, achieving true earthquake resistance requires collaboration from all parties involved in building design and construction. The lecture will address the consequences when efforts are lacking from any of these stakeholders.

Synopsis : It is a general conception that to design a building earthquake resistant is specifically a
structural engineers task. Though this is true, as far as structural design calculations are concerned, it is not possible for a structural engineer alone to achieve an earthquake resistant building, unless collective efforts are offered from other stakeholders involved in the building design and construction. This lecture shall discuss desirable collective efforts required from architect, structural engineer, contractor, site supervisor and local authority to make any building earthquake resistant and disastrous consequences when efforts from any of these are lacking.
