What is the objective?


Ever heard of escape rooms? They are appearing
all over the country, and the objective of them is
to escape by solving clues and working together.
Breakout EDU brings the same idea to the
classroom.

What does Breakout EDU do?

Objective: The Breakout EDU Romeo and Juliet Study Guide is to provide students with an interactive
and different way to study for their test. The students are not just filling out a worksheet, but actively
being involved in applying their knowledge to solving problems and working together for one ultimate
goal of breaking out. The Breakout EDU Romeo and Juliet Study Guide will be used as an assessment
tool of what students retained from reading, analyzing, and discussing Romeo and Juliet.

Breakout EDU Romeo and Juliet Study Guide Goals


The students will:
apply knowledge of Romeo and Juliet to solving the complex problems by using critical thinking
skills
collaborate with their classmates, while developing teamwork skills and involving every student
within the participation
use this study guide, meaning the information within the Breakout EDU Box will be on their test
ultimately breakout of the Breakout EDU Box after solving the clues within the class period

The unit main essential questions:
1. In a culture where we are bombarded with other people trying to define us, how do we make
decisions for ourselves?
2. Should people sacrifice freedom in the interest of security? Why or why not?
3. How does literature reveal the values of a given culture or time period?
4. What does it mean to be an insider or an outsider?

Possible Misconceptions / Probable Difficulties


The students may:
struggle working together in an effective way, which is okay because a goal of this lesson is to
strengthen their collaboration/teamwork skills
become frustrated when trying to solve the problems, which is okay because I do not want this to
be an easy lesson; I want them to be challenged
become stuck/stumped when trying to solve problems, which is okay because again, I do not
want this to be an easy lesson; I want them to be challenged
not breakout within the class period time
