ES 02: Engineering Workshop 0:0:6 [3]

The objective of this practical Course is to provide the basic concepts about tools used in an
Engineering Workshop.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Illustrate about basic hand tools used in various trades such as
Carpentry, Tin-Smithy, Fitting House wiring, Black smithy.
2. Imparting skills to prepare basic joints in Carpentry.
3. Imparting skills to fabricate various objects by using sheet metal.
4. Know various basic house wiring connections.
5. Imparting skills to fabricate various shapes by using black smithy.
6. Assemble, disassemble and troubleshoot a computer
7. 3d printing

COURSE OUTCOMES:
At the end of course the student will be able to:
1. Prepare basic joints used in carpentry
2. Prepare edges for better joint for fitting
3. Perform basic house wiring connections
4. Prepare various shapes and objects by using Tin smithy and Black smithy.
5. Assemble, Disassemble and troubleshoot a computer

Module 1: Carpentry, Fitting, Tin-Smithy, Black Smithy, House Wiring (6 Sessions)

Module 2: Demonstration for exposure - Power tools in Construction (2 Sessions)

Module 3: Hardware Experiments-


Task 1: Identify the peripherals of a computer, components in a CPU and its functions.
Draw the block diagram of the CPU along with the configuration of each peripheral;
Task 2: Disassemble and assemble the PC back to working condition;
Task 3: Install MS windows and Linux on the personal computer and configure to dual
boot the system;
Task 4: Troubleshooting: Students to be given a PC which does not boot due to improper
assembly or defective peripherals and system software problems. To identify the problem
and fix it to get the PC back to working condition;
Software Experiments-
Task 5: Students to get connected to their Local Area Network and access the Internet. In
the process to configure the TCP/IP setting, access the websites and email;
Task 6: Productivity Tools- Use Office Tools Word, Excel for creating Scheduler,
Calculating GPA, basic Power Point utilities and tools which help to create basic Power
Point Presentation as well as interactive Presentation using Hyperlinks, Inserting
Images, Clip Art, Audio, Video, Objects, Tables and Charts; (7 Sessions)
