Project Proposal Shop Security System: Microcontroller Based Design
DESIGN
PROJECT PROPOSAL
This project aims at exposing the students undergoing higher technical studies to the
thoughts and logic that must be developed to ensure that one is able to integrate his/her
ideas into something concrete.
This generally is initiated by the inception of an idea or a concept, which not only aims
at developing a product (Hardware or Software), but also the in-depth study of the
earlier existing products in the same category and their deficiencies. Accordingly an
approach is taken to propose a solution, which is better from the previous ones in one
respect or the other.
With the same approach in mind, we taken up the SHOP SECURITY SYSTEM as our
Semester project.
Introduction:
In todays age of digital technology and intelligent systems, automation has
become one of the fastest developing application-based technologies in the world.
The idea of comfortable living in home has since changed for the past decade as
digital, vision and wireless technologies are integrated into it.
Components:
Temperature sensor

MODULE
Summary:
Microcontroller ATmega1280
Operating Voltage 5V
Input Voltage (recommended) 7-12V
Input Voltage (limits) 6-20V
Digital I/O Pins 54 (of which 15 provide PWM output)
Analog Input Pins 16
DC Current per I/O Pin 40 mA
DC Current for 3.3V Pin 50 mA
Flash Memory 128 KB of which 4 KB used by bootloader
SRAM 8 KB
EEPROM 4 KB
Clock Speed 16 MHz
Working:
The operation of this project is very simple and can be understood very easily.
Basically this project will work according to different conditions and scenarios. The output or
behavior of our system will be entirely different for different conditions. For example on the
entrance of thief or unauthorized person in the shop the motion detector sensor or PIR sensor
will inform us about abnormal movement or activity in the Shop and a message will appear
on our mobile phone screen and a buzzer will be ON.Similalrly other sensors like
temperature sensor, smoke sensor, etc. will work according to conditions which are specific
for those.
Conclusion:
We get to learn that how an embedded system, based on microcontroller, can be
used for our convenience in our daily life. These systems save our time and energy both
and give more efficient results than manual systems. GSM technology capable solution
has proved to be controlled remotely, provide Shop security and is cost-effective as
compared to the previously existing systems. Hence we can conclude that the required
goals and objectives of our project have been achieved.
