Cimplicity Globalview Setup
Cimplicity Globalview Setup
How it works
The GlobalView software is a mechanism by which you
can publish and interact with CIMPLICITY CimView
screens via a standard Internet Web Browser, or via the
GlobalView Thin Client.
11. Click on the Browse Screen button and navigate to the CimView screen that you
wish to display over the Web Server.
For Example:
C:\TESTPROJECT\screens\TestScreen.cim
12. Once a screen has been selected click on the Browse Page button, and create a
new Webpage. This is the HTML file that will be loaded at first that will display the
contents of the screen.
For Example:
C:\Program Files\GE Fanuc\Proficy CIMPLICITY\WebPages\WebView\test.html
NOTE:
It is suggested to create this page in the C:\Program Files\GE Fanuc\Proficy
CIMPLICITY\WebPages\WebView folder so it is easily accessible
13. Click on the OK button on the dialog to create the HTML file.
14. The next step is to start the GlobalView Server. To do this click on Start->Programs-
>CIMPLICITY Thin Client Server->Start CIMPLICITY Thin Client Server.
15. Now proceed to Step 2 to connect your Web Browser from a client machine to the
GlobalView server.
NOTE: Once a client is connected it is possible to manage/monitor the web
connections via the GlobalView Thin Client Administrator. This can be accessed via
the CIMPLICITY Options->GlobalView tab.
Client Setup 1: Accessing Published GlobalView Screens via a Web
Browser
NOTE: Make sure that the project that is display the CimView data is already running on the
GlobalView server before doing this section.
1. On a different node than the GlobalView Server, open up a Web Browser (i.e. Internet
Explorer) and connect to http://computername where computername is the name of
the Computer running the GlobalView Server.
NOTE: It is also possible to use the TCP/IP address in place of the Computer name.
2. The WebPage should connect and load similar to the following:
3. On the left hand Pane click on WebView. This should bring up a list of the files in the
WebView folder on the server.
4. Select the HTML File created in the Server Configuration step 12 and click on it.
5. A prompt should appear prompting to download an ActiveX control. If it does not show
up then the security on your browser is too restrictive and must be loosened up.
6. Once the control is loaded a dialog will appear prompting for a user name and a
password. This is the Windows username and password of the user on the GlobalView
Server. Provide a username and password and click Logon
7. The WebPage should now load and display the CimView session with the screen
loaded.
Client Setup 2: Accessing the GlobalView Server via the Thin Client
1. In order for the Thin Client to run on the node that is to be used as the Viewer, you must
first install the Thin Client software.
2. On the node where the GlobalView server is installed locate Thing Client installation
file. This is called ggw-client.exe. This file can be found in the following location:
3. C:\Program Files\GE Fanuc\Proficy CIMPLICITY\WebPages\GlobalView\
4. Copy the ggw-client.exe to the node that is to be the Thin Client and run it. It will
have a few steps in the installation process. Let it complete.
5. After the Thin Client installation is complete then reboot the computer
6. Once the restart is complete then run Start->Programs->CIMPLICITY Thin Client-
>CIMPLICITY Thin Client.
7. A dialog will open as follows:
8. For the Server Address type in the computer name or the TCP/IP address of the
GlobalView Server, and click the Connect button.
9. Another dialog will appear prompting for a username and password. This is the
Windows username and password for the GlobalView server. Put in the username and
password and click on the Logon button.
10. The software will now connect to the GlobalView server and a new window will appear
as follows:
11. Double click on the CimView icon. A dialog will appear that will prompt you to locate
the screen to display. Navigate to the screen you are interested in and select it and
then choose Open.
12. At this point the screen should display in the Thin Client Window and update with live
data from the GlobalView Server.
