Setting Essay

People millions of years ago lived in mountains, caves and many other habitats for them

to survive in any way. Sometimes setting affected their lives in lots of ways, the mood was

sometimes sad, and sometimes great. People had lots of conflicts with the setting for example,

predators, natural disasters, lack of resources, and the setting affected themselves, how did they

live, how did they survive, and many more. Animals got affected by setting, if they live next to

hunters, deers might get hunted down by them. Characters in books also become affected by

mood, themselves, and conflict. Now, in the novel White Fang, the setting affects characters in

mood and how do they react to the setting, they become sad or extremely happy, how it affects

themselves, their curiosity and conflict, getting into traps or meeting deadly predators that they

need to fight with.

There is no doubt that Jack London shows mood by describing the setting in the novel

White Fang, For example, on page 135 London describes the mountain setting by writing, an

open portion of the stream that flashed in the sun, the blasted pine tree that stood at the base of a

slope. This shows that how Jack London is trying us to give the imagery of the mountain

setting, you start to feel and remember the fresh air of the mountains. This is because he briefly

describes the stream, pine cone, burning sun, overall the mountain setting. For example, London

introduces the reader the animals when, A squirrel running...and thought the woodpecker

This shows that Jack London has described us living creatures that live in their habitat, starting

to feel the peace. This also shows that the reader starts to feel relaxed when you could imagine

all of the description by Jack London in mind. In brief, Jack London shows mood by describing

the setting in the novel White Fang.

There is no doubt that Jack London shows how the setting affects the characters in the novel

White Fang. For example, White Fang is surprised when he is about to fight with the bulldog, He had

never seen such a dog before. Tim Keenan shoved the bulldog forward with a muttered "Go to it." This

shows that the setting has affected White Fang's life, and how he needs to fight for his survival. This

also shows that if the setting was at that time in the forest or woods, the two animals would just sniff

each other and go to do their jobs. Furthermore, when his family hunted for meat, One Eye had

journeyed several times back to the Indian camp and robbed the rabbit snares. This shows that Jack

London is telling the readerit's hard to find food in these harsh conditions, and how the little White Fang

can't hunt on prey himself. This also shows that if the indian camp weren't close to the shelter of White

Fang, they would most likely have less food and have a hard time finding food in harsh conditions.. In

conclusion, Jack London show how the setting affects the characters in the novel White Fang.

There is no doubt that Jack London introduces the conflict by describing the cold, dangerous,

setting in the snowy forest. For example, the she wolf has a conflict when, There was a tremendous

snarling while she wolf used her teeth alone. This shows that the she wolf is using only its teeth to

survive, and get some food for White Fang and herself. This also shows us that Jack London tries to

teach us a lesson, eat or be eaten in the nature, but in culture, you should be smart and clever to survive,

otherwise, you will just get eaten up by the other society. In addition, when the cub comes up to the

Indian trap, The cub came upon it suddenly, It was his own fault. This show that that the setting and

culture has affected the cub because of the cubs curiosity. This also shows that Jack London has shown

us how curiosity might be bad, and if White Fang couldve live in a extremely different place with

different culture and conditions, this situation most likely not have happened. In brief, Jack London

introduced the conflict by describing the setting.

In the facts above, it's now known how the cold and suffering setting affected White Fang and

the she wolf. Struggled with the traps, with the climate, and lots of other conflicts that wasnt mentioned

in the passage. As said in the introduction, White Fang connects to people millions of years ago, and

maybe even now, because of the setting affecting the peoples and White Fangs lives.
