Box 89-021, Torbay, Auckland, N.Z. Phone / fax (09)479-6741 Welcome Welcome to the Kids Music Company Beginner Recorder Collection. This is a book and tape set designed by teachers to give children real music to play with only a few notes. We hope you have instant success. Below are some points to remember when you are playing your recorder to help you make pleasant sounds. ° Left hand should be in the top position. ° Check fingering positions on the picture on the following page. ° Fingers should be at right angles to the recorder. ° Keep finger tips flat so the meaty part of the finger is covering the entire hole. 2 The right hand should either rest on the thumb grip at the back, hold the base of the recorder, or rest beside the lower holes. (i.e. Have fingers Off any other holes.) ° Place the recorder mouth piece on your chin while you work out your fingering. This is a very quiet way to practise! 2 Blow gently. Practise saying “Do do do do” into the mouth piece. Focus on the tongue movement, then repeat the same thing with no vocal sound. Now only the air and tongue action is heard. This is called “tonguing”. ° Practise playing long smooth notes. ° As a warm up game, with a partner, play a rhythm on one note and see if your partner can copy it. As you get clever try combining two or more notes in a pattern. Try having musical conversations where you play a little bit and your partner answers with something different Side 2: ns le lee CU EC ULE llUC EClUC ceeErlUlUC ceErlUrceCrlUmU reer lm rec creer me Cmca Creal el CL Side 1: Contents Song 1.
