II. Course Title: BASIC DRAFTING
III. Course Description:
This course deals with the scope of graphic language. It is applied to any drawing used to
express technical ideas. It aslo covers the knowledge, skills and values needed to prepare
and interpret diagrams, engineering abbreviation and drawings, symbols and dimensions
and with application to the field of Electronics.
IV. Unit Credits: 2 Units
Hours / Weeks: 108 Hours / 18 Weeks
Term: First Year, First Semester
V. General Objectives:

At the end of the semester, the students are able to:


1. Identify and draw different drawing types
2. Identify various tools used in technical drawing and demonstrate its proper use.
3. Manually draw objects/figures using various drawing tools.
4. Illustrate the proper stroke of letters, numbers and special characters.
5. Identify and draw different types of line used in technical drawing.
6. Demonstrate different techniques in geometric figure contstruction.
7. Identify and illustrate different types of measurement used in technical drawing.
8. Appreciate the use of technical drawing in the field of Electronics.
9. Draw simple electronic circuit and layout it on a Printed Circuit Board (PCB).

A. Freehand Drawing, Pattern Construction, and Drawing Tools Exercises

Specific Objectives:

At the end of each meeting, the students are able to:

1. Draw the standard drawing template using freehand drawing


2. Draw different objects using freehand drawing
3. Draw different object patterns using freehand drawing
4. Identify various tools used in technical drawing and illustrate its proper use.
5. Draw various object patterns using the drawing tools.

5. Interpret the isometric projection of an object into its orthographic projection.

5. Use Scaling to indicate the measurement ratio relative to the actual size of the
object.
