Assignment #3 Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures Model Answer

This document contains an assignment for a reinforced concrete course. It provides load values for a live load, flooring, girder own weight, and beam own weight to be used in a load distribution model. The assignment asks students to make a load distribution for given beams and a girder. It also includes the instructor's model answers and comments on the assignment.

Load Distribution

Model Answer

Make the load distribution for the given beams and girder (slab thickness t s = 140mm).

Live load: p = 1.0 kN/m2 Flooring: g = 1.0 kN/m2

Own weight of girder: gG = 5.0 kN/m Own weight of beams: gB = 2.0 kN/m

Comments:
1. It was not required to consider dead load and live load separately to get the full mark
2. Alternatively for the main girder the triangular load below the girder can be considered using factors Ce
and Ce (this would result in different diagrams for bending and shear)
