This document describes the preparation of different concentrations of Averrhoa bilimbi leaf extract for in vitro and in vivo studies. The extract was prepared by boiling 1000g of washed A. bilimbi leaves in 2000mL of distilled water for 15 minutes, filtering the extract, and collecting 1500mL total. 250mL of the extract was used to prepare treatment concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, 95%, and 100% for an in vitro study. The remaining 1250mL of extract was used to test antifungal activity on 12kg of banana fruits in an in vivo study.

II. Preparation of A. bilimbi Leaf Extract

The gathered leaves (1000g) will be washed thoroughly 2-3 times with
running tap water followed by distilled water to remove the dust particles and will be
air-dried. The leaves will be finely pulverized, and boiled in 2L (2000mL) distilled water
for 15 minutes. The extract will be filtered using a strainer and the obtained filtrate will
be kept in a properly labeled, sterile erlenmeyer flask.
One thousand five hundred (1500) mL will be collected as extract in which
two hundred fifty (250) mL of it will be used in the preparation of different treatment
concentrations for the in vitro study. A 1250mL extract will be used to test its
antifungal activity on 12 kilograms of M. paradisiaca fruits in the in vivo study.
