Introduction to Two Dimensions and Introduction to Three Dimensions

This course is an introduction to the basic techniques, history, aesthetics, and criticism. The course is divided into a
semester of two-dimensional art and a semester of three-dimensional art. Basic instruction is given to enrich the
artists understanding and application of the elements and principles of design. This course is designed to prepare
students for advancements in art.

Assignments:

1. Projects will be given as a class. The artists can use individual artistic interpretation and creativity. If
students complete assigned projects ahead of classmates they can do independent projects or a variety of
other guided assignments (see #6 below).
2. Books will be an important part of the introduction class. Artists will be responsible for reading and
writing assignments.
3. Sketchbooks and a Google drive art portfolio will also be requirements. The sketch book will be used for
drawings, taking notes, and a variety of other assignments. The Google drive portfolio will be used for
collecting data and personal growth of each artist throughout the. Both items will help you clarify and
visually develop your ideas. You will be given assignments to put in your sketch book on a weekly basis.
4. Art history and research projects will be assigned during the year.
5. At home projects will be assigned at the beginning of each nine weeks. They will be due one week prior to
the end of the nine weeks. A theme, idea, or topic will be given to help direct your creativity.
6. Independent projects or advanced work is mandatory when work is completed to the best of the artists
ability. You must follow independent project requirements and guidelines to receive grades and
participation points.
7. Critiques of the artists work and classmates work will take place during and after projects. Some critiques
will be held in groups, as writing assignments or as reflections.
8. All artists will be supply assistance one or more times throughout the school year. This will be an
assignment that will teach responsibility and leadership in the classroom.
9. Assessment forms will be filled out daily or weekly as needed. This form is to show personal growth and
areas that need improvement from the artist. Each artist is expected to keep the form updated and
complete.

1. Verbal warning

5. Withdraw from art class
