Westpac customers are increasingly using digital and mobile banking, with 98% of transactions now occurring online or via mobile. The use of branches, cheques, and ATMs has declined significantly from 2012 to 2017, with only 2% of transactions now occurring over the counter at branches. While investing in new branches and upgrades, Westpac is also expanding access through Bank@Post outlets, video banking sites, and ATMs, to reflect customers' shifting preferences towards digital and mobile banking.
