Coefficients of Form Equations

This document discusses hull form equations and coefficients that allow comparison of boat designs independent of size. It defines coefficients like displacement to length ratio, prismatic coefficient, block coefficient, and midsection coefficient. An optimum prismatic coefficient depends on expected speed range, generally between 0.53-0.58 for sailboats and 0.60-0.70 for power boats. Faster boats benefit from a higher prismatic coefficient which distributes more displacement to the ends.
