This study aims to characterize Omani bottled water brands using pattern recognition methods like correlation analysis and principal component analysis since no previous work has investigated and quantified the mineral content of bottled drinking water in Oman or assessed its contribution to dietary intake standards. It also aims to compare local bottled water quality to local and international standards and quantify nutrient mineral presence. A separate study aims to assess environmental awareness in Oman by researching perceptions of current and future problems and suggestions for behaviors to address growing environmental issues predicted to impact humans in coming decades.

Characterization and dietary contribution of Oman bottled waters

In this study Omani bottled water brands shall be characterized using multivariate
pattern recognition methods. Pattern recognition methods include correlation analysis,
principal components analysis and Hierarchical cluster analysis. Since no work has
been done to investigate and quantify the mineral content of bottled drinking water in
Sultanate of Oman and to assess its contribution to dietary reference intake (DRI).
This study also aims to compare the quality of local bottled drinking water brands
with local and international drinking water standards and quantify the presence of
nutrient minerals.

Since the beginning of 20 th century growing environmental problems has a global
dimension. Unless necessary measures are taken, it is predicted to reach dangerous
dimensions for humans within the next few decades. Therefore environment education
and the importance of positive attitudes and behaviours against the environment are
getting more and more important. This study aims to search Omanis perceptions
about future environmental problems and current environmental problems,
suggestions and behaviours .
