ch12 Asaps

The War of 1812 was caused by cruel actions the British committed against Americans, such as influencing and paying Indians to scalp Americans and join in attacks against them. The Hartford Convention aimed to discuss New England's grievances and weaken the Republicans by proposing changes like removing the 3/5 law and prohibiting consecutive presidential terms for candidates from the same state. John Quincy Adams criticized the Hartford Convention as representing Federalist and "Yankee" political views that formed an absurd system.
