Great Adventure Drill Team

Mounted Drill Team Competition

Dunnellon, FL
November 20, 2010
COMPETITION RULES

1) Current negative coggins is required and to be ready for inspection upon request. Any discrepancies
between horse and coggins will disqualify said horse from competition; and the team will not be allowed to
compete until the animal has been withdrawn from the grounds.

2) Each competing team shall be notified of their position in competition prior to Grand Parade of teams.
Order of go will be decided by a draw of numbers.

3) Each competing drill team shall be allotted 30 minutes of arena time. A drill must not exceed 15 minutes
actual performance time. A 5 point penalty will be assessed any team whose performance exceeds 15
minutes.

4) Narration during the drill competition shall be at the discretion of the team competing. Narration may not
be in the form of coaching from the sidelines.

5) The competing team will provide music, narration and/or announcing for and during their performance.

6) During actual drill competition, signaling and or coaching from the sidelines will not be allowed and could
result in disqualification of the team.

7) Each performance will be judged by a panel. The panel will be comprised of a riding member from each
competing team. Each team is responsible for choosing a knowledgeable person familiar with the scoring
criteria and the dynamics of executing drill. The chosen judge is required to read the 4 pages of Judging
Criteria, which is included in the package.

8) One judge on the panel will serve as official timer. Time will begin when the nose of the first horse crosses
the area in the arena that they have designated. If a team does not use markers, the time will begin when
the nose of the first horse crosses the arena gate. Time will end when the tail of the last horse crosses the
area in the arena that they have designated or if no markers are used, when the tail of the last horse exits
the arena gate.

9) The interquartile mean (ICM) of all score sheets will be calculated per performance. ICM is obtained by
discarding the lowest and the highest score; then calculating the mean value of the remaining scores. The
resulting score determines the placing for each team, the highest score ranked first.

10) A tie between 2 or more teams will be broken by the total score from the Entertainment section. If there is
still a tie, it will be broken by the total score from the Equitation section.

11) Once score sheets are checked, the scores are considered final and unchangeable.

12) A trophy will be awarded to the first place team. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st through 3rd place teams.

13) Excessive abuse of animals may be grounds for dismissal from any event.

Note:
There will be a Judges meeting scheduled prior to the competition. All team managers are welcome to attend.
Meeting location TBA.
