is not based on any verified fact.
Step 9
Is the argument credible? It is generally credible to many because his
points are clear and relevant but somehow it is
more like opinions and he should have been
given the facts and valid statistic to proven more
on the arguments.
Additionally, if he thinks that by hiring fresh
graduates more than experienced professionals,
can actually bring profit and greatness to the
company, then most of companies surely have
done this in the first place.
The author is discussing the controversial issue of whether employers should hire fresh
graduates instead of experienced professionals. We can see that he author is in favour of
demanding the companies to invest more money in hiring fresh graduate. He is against the
fact that company is investing their millions of dollars in hiring experienced professionals.
The author conveys his bias by presenting the favourable facts about how fresh graduates is
better than experienced individual. The authors bias is also shown through the use of
positive connotation such as cheap and easy-to-train.

There are many assumptions made by the author regarding the issue. First assumption, the
author stated that many companies investing millions of dollars in hiring experienced
professionals for their company. Next, he assumes that, talent search programs will cost
thousands of dollars. Finally he also highlights, if hire a fresh graduate, the employer do not
have to reteach the anything.

The author use his 10+ years business experience in various aspects of leadership and
management roles to establish his observation. He stated that fresh graduates cost 20-40%
less than experienced individual. He uses his own findings and personal opinions but there
is no research findings or expert testimony.

The argument valid as it is directly related to the argument. Generally because, he

mentioned the advantages of hiring fresh graduates and his examples are relevant to our
current situation. For example, you dont have to spend thousands of dollars in the talent
search program. You can partner with some of the local universities in your areas, and take
benefit of their career centre, which will be more than happy to find out a talent match for
you. Next example is, by hiring fresh graduate, you dont have to reteach him anything, as
he will basically learn everything from the beginning, and grow with your company. Based on
this evidence provided which are relates directly to the authors argument, it is considered
relevant.

Based on the article, the support is subjective. He used his own personal findings to
show us the example of the cost benefits of hiring graduates and benefits of having fresh
graduates without exposed to previous work culture. He mentioned that hiring experienced
professional will provide employer all answers that required. He mentioned about the cost of
re-teaching them to a new culture because they might familiar with the culture of the last
company that they worked for and the employer need to ensure that they forget some of the
aspects of their old culture, and dwells in with existing culture. Meanwhile, it is easier if hiring
fresh graduates because they will basically learn everything from the beginning and slowly
grow with the company.

Nonetheless, the argument is not complete. There is no inclusion of statistic provided by

the author to strengthen the argument. However, the reasoning is not one-sided as the
arguments also mentioned both fresh graduates and experienced professionals. For
instance, in paragraph three, he explained that it is easier to train fresh graduates but
simultaneously mentioned about experienced profesional even though there is some bias in
the argument where he highlights more about fresh graduates.

Furthermore, the argument is generally logical as most of the support is relevant, but it
is not verifiable and valid. It is logical because his arguments are somehow relevant to our
current situation of employment. Since the retirement age has been push to 60 years old,
many fresh graduates and young people cannot get the job because there is no space
anymore for the job offered. Whereas, if we give more opportunity to these young people,
they might have great ideas to improve the company as well as contribute profit to the
company itself. Indeed, the article provides more information regarding benefits of hiring
fresh graduate but the opinion is not based on any verified facts. He should have included
some facts, statistic or even use other expert opinion regarding this matter.

Last but not least, the argument is generally credible and believable because it is based
on authors experienced. Instead of focusing more on one aspect, he should have
considered about other factors as well because he only mentioned two benefits of hiring
fresh graduates which we can see in paragraph two and three. Instead, he should do a
further comparison between hiring fresh graduates and experienced professionals. If he
thinks by hiring fresh graduates more than experienced professionals, can actually bring
profit and greatness to the company, then most of companies surely have done this in the
first place. There must be pros and cons of whether to hire fresh graduates or experienced
professionals.
