Goal(s): Students can collect data on landforms by looking at teacher provided numbers about
landforms
Students will be able to use data to construct a graph

Objective(s):Students will construct a graph using data they collect in class.

TEKS: 1.8(A), 1.8 (B), 1.8 (C)

Materials- paper, Pencil, computer/Resources- Excel/Technology needs- computers/Room set up-


groups

Instructional Procedures

Focusing Event: Teacher will show a simple graph and ask students what is this called? What is it
showing?

Teaching/Learning Procedures:
Teacher will label the different parts of a graph using and anchor chart
Show a video on how to make a graph in Excel- http://viewpure.com/_Txpfyn4ipI?start=0&end=0
Students will work with teacher to model how to make a graph by sharing the computer and use
teacher data set.

Formative Check (ongoing or specific):


Can students access Excel?
Can students fill in cells within Excel?
Do they know how to highlight cells and insert a graph?
Can they label all the parts of their graph?

Reteaching (alternative used as needed):


Replay video for students
Stop often to allow students to try each part out

Closure:
Students come present their graphs to the class

Did the students successfully create a graph that has meaning and is easy to read?

Modifications/Notes

Set up cells for students to fill in their information
