Hello, in this video Im going to help you become more familiar with the Managing safely
assessments and understand how to manage and mark your end-of-course assessments.
These assessments are negatively marked, and the reasons for this are:
we dont want delegates to guess on health and safety
consequences could be catastrophic
encourage them not to guess and be sure of an answer

The answer: its easier and designed to start from 123 and count downwards.
In Part 1 there are 4 marks available for providing a description of your Workplace location:
Your delegates will need to describe the business function; whether the workplace is
indoors, outdoors or both, the size, and getting in and out of the workplace.
They will also need to think about the people in their workplace, for this there are 7 marks
available. If delegates acknowledge all points, they will get the full marks.
For example the security in your workplace may be so high that you never have trespassers,
but they must state this, to show youve considered this point.
Equipment or substances used 4 marks
Work activities carried out 3 marks
Parts 2 4 are hazards checklists.
Part 2 has 16 marks available:
1 mark for filling in the company name, department and site
1 mark for providing a description of the location and
1 mark for the description of the hazard
2 marks for identifying the number of people affected and their occupation
1 mark for deciding whether a risk assessment is required
And there are 3 different location hazards to identify.
Part 3. Exactly the same hazard checklist as Part 2, with 16 marks available but this time
delegates are identifying equipment and/or substances.
Part 4 a work activity hazard checklist, Only 13 marks available because this time delegates
will complete a risk assessment for each hazard.
Part 5 continues from Part 4, work activities. By investigating the hazards further you are
able to complete a risk assessment form.
30 marks available:
1 mark for completing the site information
2 marks for identifying the work activity and risk level
1 mark for identifying existing risk controls in relation to the activity
1 mark for further risk controls required
3 marks for calculating the new risk level
2 marks for a description of monitoring required and frequency of monitoring
2 marks for filling in your details, dates and signing
Delegates need to achieve at least 62 marks out of 123.
The overall pass mark for Managing safely is at least 123 out of 223.
