thought that the robbers after ransacking the coffinfelt a terror of the dead they

had disturbed and, in order to seal the coffin, wedged it in this fashion (PI. 30).
Subsequent research showed such a view was not tenable and that the lid had
been wedged thus after the interment had been completed.
