2 Software Requirements
In order to be able to work with the configuration software, you will require the following:
STEP 7 Basis V5.4 SP3 is necessary for operation with Windows Vista
STEP 7 Basis V5.5 is necessary for operation with Windows 7 (32 Bit)
STEP 7 Basis V5.5 SP1 is necessary for operation with Windows 7 (64 Bit)
For additional software requirements please refer to the Product Information of STEP 7 and the
product information of the individual option package.
3 Hardware Requirements
To work with the FM Configuration Package CD, you need the following:
Max. 60 MByte of additional memory on your hard disk per option package.
For other hardware requirements, consult the Product Information Bulletin for STEP 7
and the product information of the individual option package.
4 User Documentation
You will find the most important details about working with the individual configuration interfaces in
the online help application.
The manuals and the Getting Started guide are in PDF format.
You must have Adobe Reader installed on your system in order to read or print these manuals.
Important Note
The individual option packages will register in the Microsoft Windows system files.
You cannot move or rename STEP 7 files or folders using Microsoft Windows
utilities such as the Explorer or modify STEP 7 data in the Microsoft Windows
registry. The program may no longer run properly after such modifications.
The configuration software can only be installed once STEP 7 has been completely
installed.
Before starting the Setup program, close all applications (such as STEP 7, MS Word,
etc.).
Insert CD in the drive and start the Setup program in the Setup folder. The files are then
copied to the PC/programming device and the appropriate entries are made in the MS Windows
files. Important information on handling will be displayed during the Setup process.
The drive on which you install the software for the configuration is automatically
determined with the installed version of STEP 7.
In order to remove the program use the functions in the Control Panel > Add/Remove
Programs function. STEP 7 cannot be removed unless all the option packages have been
removed.
