Task: Write an essay summarizing and evaluating the key points from both texts. Use
your own words throughout as far as possible, and include your own ideas in your
answer. You should write 240-280 words.

Essay:

Traveling is an every-day-task everyone does to go to work. Although most people

would generally agree that traveling by car is exhausting (especially if in cities), few would
deny that commuting by train is more comfortable.

The first text declares that one consequence of people following the trend towards
living in the countryside is that these people travel more and more (for going to work, mainly).
Due to the fact that cities can be very daunting, especially when talking about traffic jams
every day, this first text offers the option of travelling by train the best one. The reasonably
new services modern trains show lets you relax and get advantage of the space for doing work.

The second text seems to be more concerned about environmental issues. According
to this text, planes are more polluting than cars. But cars are not a good option either thought,
for traveling by car can increase the cost of your travel, attributable to the rise of price of
petrol. The author of the text claims that, in spite of the fact that train tickets are more
expensive lately, trains are both an economic and environmental friendly way to travel.

These texts ignore the fact that many people live in very isolated dwellings, causing
them to be forced to use a car as the only way to travel, as a result of the lack of train/bus
facilities. Even if you live in the countryside, it would be a grave error if we assumed
commuting by train is the best option at all times. If you are in a hurry, the less recommended
option is the train: it can rain; trains are subject to delay; the sometimes poorly maintained
railways are dangerous The obvious conclusion to be drawn is that whether you are traveling
by plane, train or car, always think twice about your needs in that moment and, of course, the
environment.
