Introduction
Level 2 laboratory activities refer to the condition where only the problem is
guided and given. Students are required to find the ways & means and
provide the answers to the given assignment using the group creativity and
innovativeness. The activity will enable the students to appreciate
independent learning and prepare them for a much harder task of open
ended laboratory activities.
In this laboratory activity, the students need to tabulate and analyze setting
out data.
Objectives
The objective of this laboratory is to obtain setting out points for a simple
PREAMBLE circular curve by pre-computation and hence execute the fieldwork based
on the data computed.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the laboratory activities, students should be able to:
1) Form effective teamwork,
2) Communicate effectively through laboratory reports and oral
communication,
3) Use of critical thinking in solving problems related to survey data
4) Prepare appropriate survey equipment involved.
5) To tabulate the setting out data into the proper table.
6) Analyze setting out data.

Problem Statement
There are many accidents that have been reported that involved at some of
the road curvature in UiTM Pasir Gudang. As a surveyor, your team is
asked to review the existing setting out and compared with the actual
PROBLEMSTATEMENT construction plans for improvement purposes.
Using the suitable equipments and method, collect the suitable data at
existing road curve and use the data as a guided to tabulate the existing
setting out and identify the important parameters.
Apparatus
The group must identify the availability of the chosen apparatus in the lab
before the right procedures can be identified.
Procedures
The group is required to search for the relevant procedure to carry out the
test based on the available apparatus in your laboratory. The document
WAYS&MEANS must be made ready for verification by the instructor during the laboratory
activity.
Data Acquisition
The group is required to submit the technical report of the laboratory results
highlighting the apparatus used, the procedures undertaken for the test,
RESULTS data acquisition process. Analysis carried out and the relevancy of the set-
