1. The Curriculum Purpose


This course is intended to expand students cultural awareness, knowledge, skills in
diverse cultures. Focus will be directed toward:
1. enhanced self-understanding;
2. knowledge of the value systems of Linguistics includes Phonology, Mofology,
Semantics and Syntax or others sub-linguistics such as: Sociolinguistics,
Psycholinguistics, Applied Linguistics and Descriptive linguistics.

Students are expected to complete all class exercises. Self-awareness exercises will
be assigned every meeting in order to afford students the opportunity to gain personal
experience with concepts.Students in pair will make oral class presentations of 20
minutes about any topics related to the linguistics. Late assignments will be marked
down 10 points per calendar week late.

7. Class Policy
Class attendance/participation (13 weeks minus three absences allowed = 10 weeks).
Permission for not attending the class is allowed as long as the students can provide
official letter.

8. Grading Policy
Grades will be determined according to the following scheme:
Activity 10%
Assignment 20%
Mid Exam 30%
Final Exam 40%
Letter grades will be assigned according to average of all four grading components.
Grade Interpretation
A = Excellent
B = Good
C = Average
D = Below Average
