of India, State Election Department, Civil Administration and Police was

4. ELECTORATE
The Election Commission of India having announced the schedule I. J&K State-wise 18
for Parliamentary Elections in the country, the polls for the six Lok Sabha II. Constituency-wise 19
seats of Anantnag, Srinagar, Baramulla, Ladakh, Jammu and Udhampur in III. District-wise 25
J&K will be held in five phases beginning April 16, 2009. In order to make the IV. Division -wise 46
coverage of elections easy for media persons, we have come up with yet 5. CONSTITUENCY PROFILES 54

Parliamentary elections in 2009 are Kishtwar and Indarwal in
Kishtwar district, Doda and Bhadarwah in Doda district, Ramban
and Banihal in Ramban district, Gulabgarh, Reasi and Gool-Arnas in
Reasi district, Udhampur, Chenani and Ramnagar in Udhampur
district and Bani, Basohli, Kathua, Billawar and Hiranagar in Kathua
district.
Kathua district leads with 4,04,895 voters which include
2,14,422 male and 1,90,473 female voters. Udhampur district
follows with 2,86,778 electors including 1,51,902 male and 1,34,876
female electors. Reasi district has 2,11,723 registered voters which
include 1,10,702 male and 1,01,021 female voters while Doda
district has 1,66,611 voters including 86,551 male and 80,060
female voters. Likewise, Ramban district has 1,48,018 voters which
includes 78,222 male and 69,796 female voters while as Kishtwar
district has 1,44,357 total electors including 74,606 male and
69,751 female voters.
