THEORY AND METHOD

Assignment- 1

I hate exams.
Whenever I ask myself this question, I do get an answer, but I just don't like to
accept it. There are two things I know are true (for me at least).

1) I hate that in a matter of a few hours, my knowledge of a year's worth of


studying, is judged, marked and I am given a position. And that score is
apparently pretty crucial at times. Well, I feel, if it is that important, then why
should it not be calculated in a more efficient manner. Something other than
two hours of sitting and jotting whatever I can recall in that overly silent hall.
And the tension in the hall!!!
But then, how else to do it? I don't have a reasonable answer to that. Hope
someone does and system changes.

2) I believe I am scared. Scared of evaluation. And how do I know that? I know


it as no matter how well I am prepared for something, when it comes to the
judgement day, I screw it up. I get anxious/nervous or whatever. But yes, I
screw up my exams.

But you know, these exams do have their small merits. Just give those exams as
they finally lead you to do what you really want to do in your life later. That is
how I some to reason with myself, when I wonder why do I have to write exams.
Small steps to get where I want to go.
