Key Characteristics to check versus competition

 Sulfated Ash : weight % of ashes

If it is too high, we can plug particle filters (DPF) and create soot in piston areas,
If it is low, we get excellent operating conditions for DPF and warranty low emissions. It
means also low deposits , low oil consumption, best output of the machine.

 TBN = Total Basic Number : Ability of the oil to balance acids which are
generated during the combustion from sulfur in the fuel.

If it is too high, we generate varnish in bore and piston


If it is too low, we will not able to neutralize all acids, oil will become corrosive and very
thick

 Viscosity Index : Ability to keep viscosity at low or high temperature.


The higher the VI is , the larger temperature range we could recommend
The higher the VI is, the higher base oil quality is used to blend the product (Group I or
II or III or IV)

recommending the right product for the right application and for the right performance of the equipment

 Our best asset : Give a unique technical recommendation for Volvo machines by comparing product
data sheets with your customers. It is the best way to convince them to use Volvo oils.

Reading a PDS , you must :


1.Ensure that the PDS is the right document of the product used by the customer
2.Ensure that the Volvo specification is clearly shown (VDS4, WB 102, G101, AT 102,)
3.Highlight the key characteristics (if shown) (Ash content, Viscosity Index, TBN, etc...)
4.If one of Key characteristics is NOT shown , you can be suspicious
5.Compare them with Volvo Oils and highlight the differences with Volvo Oils
6.Understand the current drain interval used by the customer

Conclusion : Volvo Oil is the only product designed to optimize Volvo Machine Performance
It is a Genuine Part and it the best warranty for the customer.
