RecoveryManagerforExchangereplaysthesetoftransactionlogsassociatedwiththatdatabasetoensurethat
alltransactionshavebeenwrittentothedatabasefiles:

Byreplayingthelogs,RecoveryManagerforExchangeprovidesaccesstotheExchangestoredatabase
extractedfrombackuporlocatedonanetworkshare,localfolder,orlocaldrive.Havingaconsistentdatabaseis
essentialforRecoveryManagerforExchangetobeabletomountthedatabase.Whenadatabasebackupis
createdduringnormaloperationofanExchangeServer(onlinebackup),thedatabasefilesmaynotbe
completelysynchronizedwiththechangesmadeinmemory.Thelogfilesareusedtoreflectsuchchanges.
Logfilesstorealistofdatachangesthatwereperformedinmemorybutnotwrittentothedatabasefilesduring

restoredtoanalternatelocation.ThisengineenablesRecoveryManagerforExchangetoreaddatadirectly
fromtheExchangeServerdatabaseextractedfrombackup,thuseliminatingtheneedtorestorethebackuptoa
