Content:
What is the teacher doing?
Intro Journal about future plans, (Five years from now, I will be...) you can alter this question for
10-15 mins them.
Transition Hand out the script for the cereal box project.
-Remind students: that they should be creative and can present their script in whichever
Activity 1 modality they desire. Students can put on skits, make videos, create their own cereal boxes,
news casts, puppet shows etc. The only stipulation is that it must be attention getting,
5 mins engaging, and should sell your product to the class. We should want to try your cereal after
you complete your advertisement.
-Students may work individually or with a partner.
-Projects are due on Tuesday. So you have the weekend to work on them if you need more
time.
-Ask students if there are any questions.
Transition Students will be moving to sit near their partners or finding a space to work alone.
Students will be working on their advertisements.
Activity 2 -If students would like to work in the library, I will allow four students to do so. They will be
students who worked well in the hallway last time.

Conclude Read some of the students responses that were on the exit slips. Remind students that they
should take their projects home if they have creative portions that need more time. Maybe
5mins you have a cereal box to create, or puppets to make, or a video to edit. You should do this
over the weekend.

Assessment: Students will be formatively assessed on their abilities to analyze a commercial for its
purpose and audience and then begin to create their own commercials/ads. They will be assessed on
their ability to understand how advertisements use certain formats in order to sell their products.
