CHAPTER I

PREFACE

I.1 BACKGROUND

The development of technologies in the world is increasing rapidly. To survive in


this technology era, undergraduate students need to have certain skills, such as
professionalism in finding alternative solutions for any futuristic problems which
rapidly occurred in the real industries, especially in geothermal industries. It is
necessary to build and develop this character of professionalism in preparing a
perfect, well-prepared, and competent engineer.

Furthermore, an undergraduate student should improve his/her skills and has a


good social interaction and communication with others so that he/she can be a
good workmate or partner for others. Social, cultural, environment, and lifestyle of
professional workers must be understood because things that we learned in
university sometimes are not the same with the reality well find in the field.

However, to create professionalism soul, a student must have not only theoretical
knowledge of petroleum obtained from the university, but also applications of
those theoretical knowledge in the field.

According to that reason, Petroleum Engineering Department in Bandung Institute


of Technology (PE ITB) agreed to make the Practical Training Program as an
obligation taken by students for better, higher quality, and well-prepared fresh
graduate students.

In the other hand, for company, practical training could be a good event in
searching for new human resources and evaluating the quality of undergraduate
students.

I.2 PURPOSES

The objectives of a practical training are:

1. To fulfill a requirement to graduate from Petroleum Engineering Department or


University.

2. To get chances in observing, comparing, and applying theories obtained from


university in the real condition in geothermal industries.

3. To understand and get used to in working environment.

4. To get experiences and more knowledge about processes occurred in


geothermal industry.

CHAPTER II

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

II.1 PLACE OF PRACTICAL TRAINING

The practical training will be held in PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy Area
Kamojang

II.2 TIME OF JOB TRAINING

I apply for the practical training program that will be held from June to August
2016 and for company consideration, I enclose my schedule in this second
semester of 2015 -2016.

18th January until 19thMay 2015 : Regular lecture time

2st May until 13th August 2015 : Holiday time (allocated for practical training
program)

II.3. CONTENTS

The contents of practical training program are decided by PT. Pertamina


Geothermal Energy and Lecturer of Petroleum Engineering Department of
Bandung Institute of Technology. The practical training program needs to be
related to the major of Petroleum Engineering;

1. Reservoir engineering

2. Drilling engineering, and

3. Production system of oil field.

Specifically, I prefer to take a part of drilling engineering division because this part is
the most related part between petroleum and geothermal engineering. I would like
to know the real system, condition, and total procedure of having part in
geothermal industry. The guidance of engineers will also be helpful for me to gain a
better knowledge.

I realize that PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy is one of successful geothermal


company in Indonesia. The sophisticated technologies, a lot of innovations, and
experienced human resources of PT. Pertamina GeothermaL Energy would make
great experiences for undergraduate student, like me. According to that, I intend
to apply a practical training program in PT. Pertamina GeothermaL Energy. I
believe that I can get more knowledge and experiences in both technical and
practical skills to be a competent and well-prepared engineer.

II.4 METHODS

The learning methods in this practical training that I would like to have are learning
and exploring typical cases occurred in the field. Besides that, I would like to learn
the softwares of geothermal engineering used in PT. Pertamina Geothermal
Energy.

CHAPTER III

CLOSING
This is my proposal of Practical Training Program in PT. Pertamina Geothermal
Eneergy. I am looking forward to join this company in practical training program.
Considering my limitations, I hope PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy could give
me supports and advices in having good quality time of this Practical Training
Program.

The supports I expect that will be helpful for me are:

1. A tutor guiding me along the practical training.

2. Facilitation in doing observation and taking the necessary data needed.

3. Accommodation along practical training.

I arrange this proposal to complete all requirements for Practical Training Program
in PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy. End of words, I thank you for your help and
consideration.
