Cellular Structure and Function Task

Students will choose to present information about organelles in either a plant or animal cell through one of four creative options: a cell song performed by one or two students, a tourist brochure made by one or two students, a play acted out by a group of two to four students, or a 3D model constructed by one or two students out of materials like plasticine or foam. 3. You may use, any type of materials to create your model, Styrofoam,
cardboard plasticine, etc

Use cell pictures to place the organelles in the most appropriate area of your
model

You will present your model to the class, you will describe the functions of the
organelles.

Visiting the Cell Travel Brochure

You will be designing a Travel Brochure that describes a plant or animal cell as
if it were a real-life attraction.

*Think of attractions like: amusement parks, ball parks, zoos, farms, malls, etc., there are
certainly more possibilities than this.

The Task:

Include a picture and describe the function of the organelles for your chosen
cell, (plant or animal) as part of a tourist attraction.

You will be performing one of three provided cell songs.

2. Here are the specific requirements:

Song will be presented to the class

Whenever a cell organelle is mentioned in the song/rap the group must


illustrate that organelle in some way (this can be done with a hand drawn
picture or any organelle representation that creatively shows the organelle
structure).

There must be some type of background music it can be a real music or you
can make up your own beat.
