Google Sandbox

The Google Sandbox is a temporary filter that Google uses for newly launched websites before fully indexing them. It acts as a holding period where sites are evaluated before being included in search results. Sites in the Sandbox may see reduced traffic and rankings. To escape the Sandbox, website owners should clean up links and content issues, publish new and valuable content regularly, and build trust over time. The Sandbox helps Google ensure search results provide relevant content for users.

HOW CAN YOU TELL IF

YOU ARE IN GOOGLES
SANDBOX?
By Siti Nuratikah
Now that you know what the Sandbox
is it is important to learn how to tell if
a site is in the Sandbox. Before
determining if a website has been put in
the Sandbox you need to find out if the
entire site was dropped from Google or
if it has just been ranked down for
certain keyword phrases.

Start by doing a search in Google for

your site. To do this type:
site:www.yourdomain.com in the
Google Search bar (replace
yourdomain.com with your site URL).
If Google does not return any results
than most likely your entire website
has been dropped by Google. If Google
shows your website in the results and
your website recently dropped down in
keyword rankings, than you are still
indexed by Google and it is likely that
you were placed in the Sandbox.

New websites start out on the bottom

with a zero page rank but with time the
site can start ranking up. Does your
website have a pagerank but it is still
not showing up in Google Search
Engine Results Pages (SERPS)? If that
is the case, your website is more than
likely in the Sandbox. Often times a
new website can have a pagerank after
a short period of time, rank high in
Google Search Results and then all of a
sudden disappear from Google Search
Results. When this happens it is likely
that the site was put into Googles
Sandbox. Many people are left asking
themselves why? There is no one
answer as to why websites get put into
the Sandbox, but below is a list of
things thought to affect websites
placement with Google.

However, we also know that in most cases the sites

affected by the quarantine show a suroptimization of
their content, often involving a choice of highly
competitive keywords. This specification implies the
need for Google to pre-test the domain quality before
putting them in competition in the search results.

STEP 6: PUBLISH NEW,

of the entire process. You need to take
up the mantle of a white hat SEO
webmaster, which means content.
Quality content published frequently
on a regular schedule, relevant to
your audience, is the only way to
succeed in this business.

STEP 4: DISAVOW
HARMFUL LINKS.
BY SITI NURATIKAH

Poor link building is a common reason

for sandboxing. Even if you just
bought a new domain, run a link audit
in case a previous owner build bad
links. Any link you dont want to claim
as your own, disavow using Googles
tools. If you want to take more time,
you can also contact the host of the
links youre disavowing and get the
webmaster to remove them.
STEP 5: PURGE
DUPLICATED CONTENT

There are a few legitimate instances of duplicate

content, but they are few and far between. If you

have one, you can simply use canonicalization to fix

them. If you have issues with duplicate content from

off-site content scrapers, or if your content was

scraped or spun from another site, deal with the

problem. If your site was a scraper, remove the

content, no questions asked. If your quality content

has been scraped, report the scraper pages to

Google. If you have low trust, they can be harmful.

STEP 6: BUILD UP OR
REPLACE THIN CONTENT.

Thin content is generally an issue when it comes to

trust; Google vastly prefers detailed, quality

content. Identify any cases of thin or low quality

content on your site. For each page, you have a

decision to make.

Remove the page. This option is best used when

the page has no incoming links, as Google doesnt

like broken links.

Build up the content. This is generally the best

option, as you can take an existing page and add

value until its a useful page to have.

Merge with another page. This is typically useful

when you have several small subcategory pages

that can be merged, or if you have an FAQ with

different pages for every question.
