Look for work permit
check and ensure consumbles ( cleaner, developer, penetrant) belong to same family/ 0.9
same manufacturer and with in date of expiry
check for certificate of contaminants from manufacturer 0.8
Look / see for paint, flux, oil, grease on examination surface / weld and HAZ 1
If paint or flux is seen Inform supervisor to arrange for removal using grinding 2
Check for temperature 2.1
If oil or grease seen Clean l using cleaner spray and lint free cloth 3
Wait for 1 minute 4
Spray penetrant from 10 to 12 inches distance 6
Wait for 5 minutes for weld/ for 10 minutes for plate example; Bevel edges--10 to 50 7
deg. Centigrade -normal temperature
Wait for 10 minutes for weld/ for 20 minutes for plate example; Bevel edges--5 to less 7
than 10 deg. Centigrade - low temperature
Use lint free cloth 8
Use lint free cloth 9
Use lint free cloth with cleaner 10
Wait for 3 minutes 11
Shake the developer spray can 12
Spray developer from 10 to 12 inches distance 13
wait for 10-20 minutes 14
Look/ ensure for light giving min. 1000 lux 15
Look for defects rounded > 5 mm and linear > 1.5 mm 16
Mark defects 17
