HMM Infra LTD.: Dedicated Freight Corridor-Eastern Corridor Bhaupur To Khurja Contract Package - 101

This document provides design calculations for checking the structural adequacy of members in the main truss and launching nose during different stages of the launching operation for the Dedicated Freight Corridor project between Bhaupur and Khurja. Wind loads are calculated considering a 50% design wind during launching. Reaction forces at different trestles are determined through structural analysis in STAAD.Pro. Maximum utilization ratios are found for the launching nose in Stage 7, which represents the critical 38m cantilever position before the next trestle.

Title:
Design of Erection scheme

doc no. HHS 02 17 2216 D

Mar-17
1.0 Introduction:
This design note pertains design calculations for checking the adequacy of members of
main truss and launching nose during the stages of launching.Launching operation is
devided into stages for the movement of main truss and launching nose (LN)
50% design wind is considered during launching operation of truss and LN as launching is propos
calm wind condition.

1.1 Design Basis

Reference Drawing No.:
1. GENERAL ASSEMBLY DRAWING OF ETMJ1 S101-1RFO1091B/0.92B
2. STRUCTURAL DRAWING GFC 101-RFO-1104 /11049

1.3 Reference Codes

IS 800:2007 - Code of practice for general construction in steel.
IS 875:1987 (Part 3) - Code of practice for design loads for buildings and structures (WIND LOA

1.4 Design Data:

Grade of Steel (for LN ) = E250, BR Quality (Fy = 250 MPa; Fu = 410 MPa) as per IS2062-2011
Grade of Bolts = HTS 8.8 grade (Fy = 640 MPa; Fu = 800 MPa)

1.5 Load Calculations:

The loads considered are:
Weight of Main Truss and Launching nose: Self weight applied by factor 1.2 to account
for the weight of gusset, battens, stiffeners etc. in
Wind load Calculation

Wind load calculations:

Design wind speed = Vz = Vb x K1 x K2 x K3 - Cl.5.3 IS875-3:1987
Basic wind speed = Vb = 47 m/s
Risk Coefficient =K1 = 0.71 (for structures during construction stages)
- Table 1 IS875-3:1987
Terrain, Height & Structure = K2 = 1.03 (for Terrain category 1 & Class b)

Topography factor = K3 = 1
Design wind speed = Vz = 47 x 0.71 x 1.03 x 1 = 34.37 m/s
Design wind =0.6 Vz=0.6x34.37x34.37=708.78N/sq.m

Wind load during operation to be considered 50% of the above load as the
launching operation will be done during moderate / calm wind condition.

The launching scheme is analysed and designed in STAADpro as givn in subsequent pages.
The design results for stage -7 are given below for maximum cantilever, the design is checked for
all the stages but only utilisation ratio in graphical from is produced for the design check of LN.
Members of main truss are checked for maximun cantilever which is a crical case. The design res
for main truss are not produced as they are not critical for the other stages.
