Conduit Sizing Chart

1. The document provides a chart for selecting the proper American wire gauge (AWG) size and minimum electrical metallic tubing (EMT) conduit size for running 3 or 4 insulated conductors based on the ampacity required. 2. Users follow the listed procedure to determine the AWG and conduit size by first selecting the appropriate AWG from the ampacity column, then finding the corresponding conduit size in either the Lifeline RHW or Lifeline RHH column depending on the insulation/covering system. 3. An example for a 4 conductor, 3 phase wye system requiring 120 amps is provided which lists the AWG as 2 and minimum EMT size as 1 1/4 inches for Lifeline

Lifeline RHW Conduit Sizing Chart

Using electrical design and local codes, determine the proper ampacity. Use the following procedure and table to find the AWG and
conduit size required for 3 or 4 insulated conductors at a 40% fill per chapter 9 of the National Electric Code.
Procedure
1. From 75°C or 90°C Ampacity column, select proper AWG size
2. Conduit Sizing
A. For Lifeline RHW (RHH/RHW-2 composite insulation system) go to the Lifeline RHW Column
B. For Lifeline RHH (RHH insulation with cover system) go to the Lifeline RHH Column
3. Move over to select 3 conductor or 4 conductor minimum EMT conduit size
