1) ONION DOMES:
The name derived from the
shape of onion.
The height exceeds width and it
is larger in diameter.
They symbolize burning
candles.
2) OVERHANGING EAVES:
It’s the edges of roof, which
overhang.
They throw water clear of the
walls and it can also be highly
decorated.
It is supported by columns,
posts, cantilevered beams etc.
3) PIERCED OPEN ARCADING:
Arcade is a succession of
arches.
Exterior arcade is a shelter for
pedestrians and it is used in
warmer and wet climate
Earlier It is used as European
shopping.
4) OPEN PAVILION:
Pavilion is a subsidiary building
either with main building or
separately.
In Asia, it is attached to each
end of the main building block.
This provides emphatic visual
termination of the composition of
a large building.
5) MINARET:
It is mostly free standing and it’s
taller than support structure.
It acts as a visual focal point
and muslims call to prayer.
It is aesthetical, symmetrical,
architectural feature and a
stability of design.
6) DOMED CHATRI:
Dome shaped pavilion like a
canopy or umbrella.
It is a memorial, built over site
where the funeral is made.
It displays the wealth of the
owner.
7) DOMED KIOSKS:
Roof supported by pillars with
screened or totally open walls.
It is attached to main mosque
with open arched sides.
It is first introduced in 13th
century in Persia and Ottoman
empire.
8) VAULTED ROOFS:
Arched form which provide a
space with the ceiling and roof.
Thick walls and buttresses are
used.
9) POINTED ARCH:
An arch with pointed crown,
which is characteristics of Gothic
architecture.
Islamic architecture started this.
CUSPED ARCH:
An arch with cusps/ foils on its
intrados.
It represents symmetrical leaf
shape.
It is used as decorative ,
ornament device.
It is found in Gothic and Islamic
architecture.
SCALLOPED ARCH:
An arch with multiple foils
