How I can contribute to NITK’s growth.

I fully meet the requirements for the post of Associate professor advertised by you. I have about 21
years of teaching experience and 6 years of Industry experience. Also I have good academic record
and I have acquired the doctoral degree which is one of the prerequisites for the above post. I have
also Published 29 Journal papers. I addition, 28 of my papers are presented/published in International
Conference proceedings.

I am working in the department of Mechanical Engineering as a permanent faculty for the last 16
years. I am handling the subjects such as CAD/CAM, Machine Design, Automated Manf. Engg,
Automobile Engineering, Rapid Manufacturing etc.. With knowledge gained over the years by taking
the above subjects I can really contribute further for the Institute. I have carried out my research work
in IIT Kharagpur and based on the research work I have published 6 journal papers and 9 conference
papers. With the knowledge gained by doing research, I feel confident to take up further research
work. I have already proposed for research related equipment’s in my area through the Head of the
department. Four of my students has already completed PhD under my guidance.

The vision of NITK is to facilitate transformation of students into good human beings, responsible
citizens and competent professionals, focusing on assimilation, generation and dissemination of
knowledge. With the knowledge gained by teaching, by working in the industry and by doing the
research work, I can really contribute to the vision of the NITK, Surathkal. With the knowledge I have
gained over the years I am confident that I can impart quality education to meet the needs of
profession and society and achieve excellence in teaching-learning and research. I can contribute to
the development of human resource, who will practice and promote high standards of professional
ethics, transparency and accountability. As the case is such, a promotion which will change my
designation to Associate Professor will really boost up my confidence and strengthen my urge to
excel in the field.
