1. A class consists of a number of boys whose ages are in A.P, the common difference being 4 months.

If
the youngest boy is just eight years old and if sum of the ages is 168 years, find the number of boy in the
class. 4M

2. The 8th term of an Arithmetic progression is zero. Prove that its 38th term is triple its 18th term. 3M

3. Find the area of a quadrilateral ABCD whose vertices are A(1, 1), B(7, –3), C(12, 2)
and D(7, 21). 4m

4. Find the coordinates of a point on the x-axis which is equidistant from the points
A(2, –5) and B(–2, 9). 3M

4. A box contains cards, number from 1 to 90. A card is drawn at random from the box.
Find the probability that the selected card bears a
(i) two digit number.

5. A game consists of tossing a one-rupee coin 3 times and noting the outcome each
time.
Ramesh wins the game if all the tosses give the same result (i.e. three heads or three
tails) and loses otherwise. Find the probability of Ramesh losing the game. 3M

5. A straight highway leads to the foot of a tower. A man standing on its top observes a
car at an angle of depression of 30 , which is approaching the foot of tower with a
uniform speed. 6 seconds later, the angle of depression of the car becomes 60 . Find
the time taken by the car to reach the foot of tower from this point. 4m

6. A quadrilateral ABCD is drawn to circumscribe a circle. Prove that AB + CD = AD +


BC. 4m

7. Draw a right triangle in which the sides (other than hypotenuse) are 8 cm and 6 cm.
Then construct another triangle whose sides are 3\ 4 times the (corresponding) sides of
given triangle. 4m

8. Prove that lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal. 4m

9. Find two consecutive odd natural numbers, the sum of whose squares is 394. 4M

10. Solve for x :
