Discussion Board Notes- Completed weekly

Week 02
Table 4: TP Discussion Board Notes

How did you feel about TP today/this week? What areas are you focused on and what progress have
you made? Explain.
This is the second week for TP. It was a little bit tiring but less than the last week. The area that I really
wanted to focus on was the type of tone that I need to use for grade 1 children, still it was hard to adjust
it. But it improved a little bit after teaching for 2 lessons.

What duties / activities did you carry out during the school today? Critically Reflect: Did you feel that
you did a good job?
This week, I carried out 4 activities, all of them are for science. This week, my MST assigned me to sit
beside two kids to help them during the class, and she added one more child. I think I did a great job
assessing these three children, as they were able to follow the lesson instead of sitting doing nothing.

What was the most interesting science activity or strategy you saw? Why did you think it was
interesting and worth noting/remembering?
This week also, there was an activity where children could go out and do an activity. It was interesting
since the children had to go outside to draw and make a snow man using cottons and some colored
papers.

What did you try out? Was it successful? Why/why not? Which TP competencies do you feel you
achieved and which do you think that you need to focus on next time?
I did activities as individuals. It was successful as the students were working without creating much
ruckus. The TP competencies that I achieved this week is that I was punctual at coming to school,
attending assembly and being prepared for the lessons. Next week, I will set a goal and focus on it.

What was the most important thing you learnt about students or teaching science today? Can you
think of any way you could better engage students in any activity you saw today?
To keep the students engaged in the class by giving more than one activity, asking questions depending
on their levels.

Critically Reflect: Identify an aspect of your own behaviour (e.g. time / behaviour management) that
you feel you could improve upon. Discuss ways in which you could improve this.
There are some problems with managing the classroom behavior. But to manage it I used the dojo, and
it worked as their noisiness decreased.

What are your agreed responsibilities for your next day/week in TP? Be specific
To plan a detailed but simple lesson plan, which would be easy to follow.
