WS4VA D-STAR NET SCRIPT

{INTRODUCTION}

CQ CQ CQ calling the WS4VA D-STAR Net…

“Good evening and welcome to the WS4VA D-STAR Net


sponsored by the Stafford Area Radio Association.”

“This net is held Thursday Evenings at 1930.”

“This is an “OPEN NET” but a “CONTROLLED NET”.

“At any time a station may break into the net to pass emergency
traffic.”

“At this time are there any stations with emergency traffic?”

{PAUSE}

“Hearing none, I will continue with the net”

“The purpose of this net is to promote Ham Radio, provide D-


STAR related information and news, give D-STAR capable
amateurs the opportunity to improve their communications, and
just have fun.”

“Your NCS for this evening is N0RMC. My name is RICH, and I


am on the WS4VA repeater “Charlie” Module in Stafford County,
Virginia.”

{NET CHECK-IN PROCEDURE}

“Check-ins will be taken via two procedures. The first wil be via
the “Quick Key” which is merely a key of your D-STAR Radio for
approximately 1 – 2 seconds. This will result in your call sign

being transmitted and displayed to all members of the net to


include the NET Control. The NCS will recognize each Quick Key
as they come in. Once all quick keys are recognized, the
standard voice check-in will be conducted. If your quick key
hasn’t been recognized by the Net Control please utilize the
standard voice check-in.
For those using the D-STAR Dongle please utilize the voice check-
in.

We suggest but do not require the utilization of the “Busy


Channel Lockout” feature be utilized. In some cases due to your
operating conditions this is impossible so utilize the best practices
for your particular operating environment. The Busy Channel
Lockout prevents doubling on the D-STAR System.”

{PAUSE}

“Also, please make sure that you are utilizing a Gateway setting
in your radio (located in RPT 2), so that everyone will be able to
hear you.”

“Before we begin the net roll call, are there any stations that wish
to list emergency or priority traffic? Please call now.”

{PAUSE FOR EMERGENCY/PRIORITY TRAFFIC}

{CHECK- IN PERIOD}

“If there is no emergency or priority traffic, we will now call for


check-ins beginning with the Quick Key check-ins.”

{PAUSE}

“Now accepting Voice check-ins. Please call now…”

{PAUSE}

“Now accepting check-ins from any ‘DV Dongles’. Please call


now…”

{LIST ANNOUNCEMENTS & CALL FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS}

“The following are announcements for the WS4VA D-Star Net;”

“Are there any other announcements, from any other station, for
the good of the net…please come now...”

{CALL FOR CHECK-IN COMMENTS}

We will go around the horn for comments from the group:

- Begin at the top of the list of those checking in.

“Are there any comments for the good of the net tonight? Please come
now…”

{PAUSE}

“There being no further business for the net, we will close this
session of the WS4VA D-STAR Net. Please join us again next
Thursday evening at 1930 hours on the WS4VA D-STAR Repeater
“C” module. This is N0RMC, wishing everyone a pleasant
evening and returning the frequency back to general amateur
use.”
