 Definition
A caption is a brief explanation of a photograph or illustration located on or below the
picture.
1 : the heading especially of an article or document
2 : the explanatory comment or designation accompanying an illustration
3: a movie or television show subtitle.

 Purpose
The purpose of a caption is to help the reader understand the information that may or
may not be shown in the picture. Captions are commonly used in :
 Journalism : Newspaper, Magazine, and other journalistic product.
 Social Media : Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

 Characteristics
 Short and brief; describes the picture straight forwardly.
 Located below or on a picture.

 Generic Structure
1. Photos / diagram / illustration.
