Bamboo Tech Problem Statement
Bamboo Tech Problem Statement
THE INTENTION
·To create awareness about the usage of bamboo and its composites
·To expose the participants to the practical aspects of designing of the bamboo structures
·To generate innovative prototype bamboo designs that can be commercialised
THE PROLOGUE
Today the world is ablaze with manifold explorations in the strata of technology, infrastructure, economy and
ecology with one goal in mind: to adopt a sustainable approach towards providing quality of life. Bamboo is
one such material that has created wonders in construction technology. In rural India Bamboo is one of the
conventional materials in every walk of life. However, the predominant use of bamboo in the urban scenario
has yet to be completely exploited.
The urban streetscape not only serves vehicular and pedestrian needs, but also provides a platform where the
community living spills over. Such a conglomeration of space and function calls for intervention through
innovation to give meaning to its neglected dimensions.
