This document provides a lesson plan for a 6th grade math class that addresses collecting and analyzing numerical data. Students will take a survey of teachers, analyze the results to determine measures of central tendency and create graphs by hand or using Sway. They will then present their findings in a Sway presentation and discuss what they found difficult about the data analysis.

Remembering Understanding Applying Analyzing Evaluating Creating Description of how to implement in the class: Students will be divided into groups of 3-4 students and will be given the task to take a survey of 20 teachers and or faculty in the school. These questions involve things like number of vehicles, favorite ice cream, etc. of values that can be expressed by counting. This will be limited to 10 questions. The students will then gather together to analyze the data and determine what the mean, median, mode, range, and interquartile range is for each question. They will then create graphs by hand and then insert these graphs into a Sway assignment. The students then have to present each slide of the Sway and talk about what they found in there group. Even though they may have interviewed a few of the same teachers, they probably received different answers. After each group has presented, they must talk about what was difficult about the data and tell if anything stuck out to them as a group. Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): LoTi 5
Description of the sample spreadsheet and graph/chart provided *: Students will create their own tables and graphs by hand or by using a BPT like Excel if they wish.
