Arts Integration Lesson Shadows

This 1 hour lesson plan integrates fine arts into a 1st grade lesson on shadows. Students will create 3D aluminum foil sculptures and trace their shadows to cut out and glue onto black paper. This allows students to understand how shadows are made and apply art techniques like form, texture and shape. As an assessment, students will write an opinion piece on whether they enjoyed making shadow sculptures.
