Sampling and Sampling Techniques

The two participants, both being male, who participated in this study were selected based on their rank and

experience in their respective companies. A purposive sample is a non-probability sample that is selected based on

characteristics of a population and the objective of the study [1]. This sampling technique is efficient since it allows

you to reach a target sample quickly, and where sampling for proportionality is not the main concern.

Both participants are residents of Banilad, Cebu City. They both started their business in their own local

residences. The first participant has been involved in the food industry for 19 years. On the other hand, the second

participant has been involved in the food industry for 2 years. At the time of the interview, the participants were

located in the vicinity of Cebu. Therefore, the researchers conducted an interview with the participants.

The first participant is 41 years of age and is currently living with his wife and his two sons, a second-year

college student at UANP and a Grade 12 student at Paref Springdale. Both of his children aspire to be pilots in the

future but may inherit the business if they want to. He had been selling various products in the past such as milk teas.

Ever since he was little, he was already business-minded and started selling simple delicacies. The first business is a

sole proprietorship which means that it is run by one person alone.

The second participant is 24 years of age and is currently running the business for his brother, 28 years old,

who originally started it. He has been an entrepreneur for only 2 weeks still and is handling the business because his

brother is in Manila. He originally started studying Medical Technology in college until he realized that he did not

want this course. Later on, he switched to Business Administration.
