Reheat Regen

The document provides data for a 125 MW reheat-regenerative turbo-generator unit operating with steam conditions, extraction pressures, and efficiencies given to calculate the ideal and actual thermal efficiencies and the mass of bled steam for the last heater per kg of throttled steam. Diagrams of the schematic, T-S, cycle pad, and thermodynamic properties at each state point are included to analyze the reheat-regenerative cycle.

REHEAT-REGENERATIVE CYCLE

PROBLEM STATEMENT
1. A 125 MW reheat-regenerative turbo-generator unit receives 500,000 kg/hr of steam at
9.20 Mpa and 440 C. Generator efficiency is 95%. Condensate leaves at 45 C. for ideal
cycle, steam enters reheater at 3.5 Mpa, first extraction is at 2.35 Mpa; second
extraction is at 1.70 Mpa; and the third extraction is dry and saturated. For actual cycle
with the same extraction pressure except that pressure drops through reheater tubes by
.25 Mpa, entering at temperature of 260 C. Actual feed-water temperature is 215 C.
Determine the following:
a. The ideal engine thermal efficiency without pressure drop thru reheater
b. The actual mass of bled steam for last heater per kg of throttled steam
c. The thermal efficiency
