The Power to shine

Radiant Solar Heating System
is a high-tech product manufactured using the latest
technology since 1974.

Due to continuous improvement of quality

and state-of-the-art technology, RADIANT
SOLAR has succeeded to be always a
step ahead of its competitors. With an
experienced product development division
and advanced know-how, RADIANT
SOLAR has been awarded quality and
efficiency certificates, making RADIANT
SOLAR, one of the leading industry of solar
energy applications in Europe.

Why Solar?
Solar energy is the energy received by the Renewable and inexhaustible

A Purified Environment:
The burning of fossil fuels (natural gas and
petroleum) in homes accounts for 20% of
greenhouse gas emissions and contributes
to global warming while releasing tons of
CO2 in to environment. Air pollution caused
by discharges from this combustion has a
perceptible damaging effect on the health of
the population.

ORIENTATION OF SOLAR SYSTEM

The thermal performance of the solar system is optimized
when is mounted facing South (when we are in the Northern
hemisphere).
The actual performance however is minimal decreased
when the system is oriented less than 45º degrees South
East or South West.
S
If we increase the surface of the solar system, by using SE SW
larger collectors or adding one more collector, the solar sys-
tem can be oriented up to 90º degrees South East or South E W
West (fig.8), with minimal or no impact to the annual thermal
performance.
N
ATTENTION: We will exactly do the opposite when we are
at the Southern hemisphere.

RADIANT SOLAR SYSTEM TYPES
In heating systems, the heat accumulated by the solar collector is transferred through a liquid (called “heat –carrying” liquid) to
the storage cylinder. The liquid (a mixture of water and glycol) may run spontaneously or may be driven by a pump. On this basis
we can identify two types of heating system.

A THERMOSIPHON CIRCULATION SYSTEM

(NATURAL CIRCULATION)
The cylinder must be installed above the solar panel as it is clear in the fig.9, thermosiphonic system is considered the
simplest solar heating system to generate domestic hot water, reliable and easy to install. Usually, it is installed for residen-
tial apartments and limited utilities.

CASING: anodized aluminum profile
BACK INSULATION: glass wool/ rock wool with 30mm thick-
ness, 30kg/sq.m density.
SIDE INSULATION: glass wool / rock wool of 15mm thick-
ness, 60kg/sq.m density.
ABSORBER PLATE: SUNSELECT/ TITANIUM blue selec-
tive copper 0.20mm thickness with absorptance (α) =0.95,or
MIROTHERM blue selective aluminum 0.50mm thickness
with absorptance(α )=0.94 (optional).
COVER GLASS: safety tempered prismatic glass 4mm thick-
ness.
* Collector insulation and absorber thickness can be modified upon request fig.9
( special order).

Mounting Kit
The kit is complete and ready to be connected to the water
network and consist of:
• Galvanized steel mounting frame (fig.10).
• Brass fittings.
• Stainless steel tubing for the closed circuit.
• Glycol antifreeze liquid.

B FORCED CIRCULATION SYSTEM
The cylinder can be installed indoor or outdoor.
The forced system is a complete system control with excellent efficiency and unlimited applications.

1. Collector field. 6. Lower sensor.
2. Air vent. 7. Feed water valve.
3. Collector sensor. 8. Solar hot water storage.
4. Controller. 9. Boiler.
5. Pump kit. 10. Upper sensor.

The solar pump starts working and the cylinder is heated up,
when the water temperature from the solar side is higher than
the water in the cylinder. The control unit switch ON/OFF the
solar pump based on the difference in temperature between
the solar sensor 3 and the lower sensor in the cylinder 6 . By
default, Δt is set minimum 5º degrees to switch on the solar
pump.
In the figure 13, the upper indirect coil of the cylinder is heated
by the auxiliary system (hot water boiler 13) to obtain domes-
tic hot water in the absence of solar system. In case the lower
sensor 6 reads higher than the solar sensor 3 , and the upper
cylinder sensor 8 is still lower than the set point, automati-
cally, the primary pump switch on. The primary boler pump fig.13 : Hot water generation

will work continuously till the sensor hits the set point temp.

2. Air vent. 10. Calorifier sensor.
3. Collector sensor. 11. 3-way valve.

5. Pump kit. 13. Storage sensor heating.
6. Lower sensor. 14. Boiler.
7. Feed water valve. 15. Mixer.

Similar to the above case, the solar pump starts working and
the cylinder is heated up based on the Δt. By default, the mini-
mum difference of temperature is 5º degrees to switch the
solar pump.

Solar heating support is effective and can reduce running

cost, especially in regions where sunny days are occupying
most of the winter season.

3. Thermal insulation can be removed for simple transport into
the setup area. R
4. Inner shell and heat exchangers are protected against cor-
rosion with a glass lining coating and magnesium sacrificial
anode. CWI
5. Working pressure is 10 bar, test pressure is 15 bar. Max.
temperature is 95c permanent and 110c temporary.

Example of hot water demand calculation

Required data; Calculation;
• Geographic data. Hotel with 500 rooms = Liters / hour, 60°C
500x private hand basins = 500x10= 5000 l/h
• Minimum and maximum ambient temperature. 500 bath/shower = 500x50= 25000 l/h
• Required hot water temperature. 500 bidets = 500x10= 5000 l/h
• Number of fixtures/ Number of people. 60 public hand basins = 60x15= 900 l/h
50 kitchen sinks = 50x80= 4000 l/h
• Type of back up system (electric, gas, fuel, etc..)
30 bar sinks = 30x100= 3000 l/h
30 slop sinks = 30x50= 1500 l/h

INSTALLATION OF 6 THERMOSIPHONIC SOLAR SYSTEMS ON LINE

fig.26 1- All of the tubes that we will use for the installation must have the same length and geometry.
2- The diemeter of the tubes must be the same for the cold and hot water in order to have the correct pressure drop.
