Unit Goals:
-Students will learn the critical features/elements of how to shoot a basketball.
-Students will be able to identify if a critical feature/elements to shoot a basketball is being performed correctly, or incorrectly.
-Students will be able to organize a progression of a basketball shot, by using the critical features/elements, and be able to provide
feedback when necessary.
Unit Summary:
In this unit, you will learn the critical features/elements of a basketball shot, and how to perform them correctly as well as be able to teach
it to another person. You will start by reviewing a set of flash cards to assess your current knowledge on how to shoot a basketball. You
will then have a lecture with guided notes, to help you understand these critical features/elements. You will have a webercise, about the
history of basketball, and the cues of a basketball shot. You will be creating a graphic organizer, showing a progression of a basketball
shot. You will, be applying these critical features/elements in class. As you gain a greater understanding of the material, you will be doing
a project, where you create a drill that will help students practice a specific or set of critical features/elements, and will be used in class.
Finally, you will have a practical assessment, where you will be graded by the teacher using the critical features/elements to shot a
basketball.
